Fiction Feature. Amber’s secret passion for dancing in underground hip hop clubs give her respite from a violent Jehovah’s Witness upbringing. Her best friend Joni conspires to help conceal her double life, but Joni has problems of her own. Neglected at home, Joni fixates on gaining the love of a car thief and escaping to the big city. As tensions mount,  secrets are uncovered that rock their friendship to its core. A story about the intimacies and limits of friendship.

A riveting meditation on resilience in the face of disaster, Illusions of Control unfolds in landscapes irrevocably shaped by human attempts to dominate them.
